30 Days…watch the commercials..wait…what?…Huh? Isn’t that why I have a DVR?

Furniture Sliders

Okay..wait…what are those ↑↑↑↑?  Those are furniture sliders available at Menard’s (plug for my daughters employer).  They are a low cost (under $10) tool to make you watch the commercials.  I have a point here…I really do…my point is that in 2013 the average TV hour contained 14 minutes and 15 seconds of commercials.  When you translate that into quick workouts that’s a good amount of working out during your evening show.  The above referenced furniture sliders are great for slider workouts.  Start simple, put on some gym shoes and slide your legs in and out.  Then you can do a sliding lunge.  Commercial breaks are a few minutes in length so three exercises for 45 seconds each are good.

This is easy, cheap and good for you.  You can Google commercial workouts and there are several plans to try.  Find one that works for you.

Yup it’s Sunday…get motivated!

I am fairly certain that a majority of us have hit a wall with our New Years Resolutions.  I do not make resolutions for the New Year, instead, I try to bite off small chunks of success every once in a while.  For me, it is better to set a small goal and meet it and then find another small goal.  If any of you have surfed the internet, at all, in the past few years you have come across more than a few 30 day challenges.

This week I will be putting up six challenges, these will not be for everyone, try one or two you think fit your personality or share with the person it reminds you of.  For example, if you LOVE to work out and have a defeated friend find a 30 day challenge to do with her/him.  If I wind up being super motivated I may post more than one per day.

Sundays are my day to motivate you to better yourself.  Changing, quitting, starting or stopping a habit can better yourself.  Just try.  Here are some of my favorite motivational statements to get you started.  I Google the ones I love and print out the graphics to post in my office or save on my phone.  In most of these cases I have no idea who to credit…rest assured I do not take credit for any of these.

  • I can.
  • Don’t worry about those that talk behind your back.  They are behind you for a reason.
  • You don’t have to be Great to Start but you have to Start to be Great.
  • Mistakes are proof that you are trying.
  • Always Be Positive!
  • Do something today that your future self will be proud of.
  • Dreams don’t work unless you do.
  • There is no elevator to success…you MUST take the stairs.
  • I’m gunna run til’ I don’t jiggle.
  • When nothing is going right…go left.

Go out there and crush it…Enjoy…Nancy Ann

A little help from a friend….

ECC 4 9-10

I am one of the most fortunate people I know.  I have all the ‘needs’ and more of the ‘wants’ than I should have.  I can safely say this is because I have some of the best friends in the world.

What makes a best friend?  Is is someone you met as a child and are still friends with today?  Is it the person that you FB/Tweet/Pin the most?  In my opinion, it is much more than that.  My two best (but I have MANY) friends have been there…just been there, through thick and thin.  Best Friends don’t necessarily tell you things like ‘you are pretty’ or ‘you are so smart’ but what they do is tell you the truth.  My friends almost NEVER tell me I am right, they know what floodgates that could open.  Instead, they argue with me, they cajole, they constantly tell me what to do / not do.  Friends are true…they are your North compass point and best friends sometimes tell you what you don’t want to hear…because you need to hear it.  During difficult times, those same friends will be there to pick you up.  There have been many times I needed to be picked up and many times I needed to pick someone else up…that’s what make a best friend.  This week I just want to say THANK YOU! to all of my best friends…whatever you have done with me or for me when you knew I needed it I appreciate it more than you know.  In the same respect, I am hopeful that my friends see me as their best friend and I strive to be that for as many people as I can.

The verse above has stayed with my since 8th grade Confirmation.  When I am down or feel even the slightest bit alone I think about it.  And I think of the number of times I have picked up one of my friends.  I lost count a long time ago…

Be kind to one another…help each other up…Nancy Ann

PS – If your best friend (DS) falls down over an imaginary or ‘extra’ step in high heels it is perfectly acceptable to help her up while laughing…that’s what friends are for!
